Most people only learn what a root canal costs after they've already had one. By then it's too late to shop around, ask for a cash discount, or compare prices across town. ToothPrice exists because that's broken. We compile typical cash-pay prices across US metros so patients can have a real conversation about cost before sitting in the chair — whether they're uninsured, between plans, or shopping for the best deal nearby.

Joe, founder of ToothPrice. Background in tech and consumer web. ToothPrice is a small editorial project. There is no dentist on staff, and pages do not name a medical reviewer. Cost figures are editorial estimates. Sources and the formula are on each price page and on the methodology page.

What's Next

More patient-submitted bills, once they are reviewed, and a named reviewer if a licensed dentist agrees to review cost copy. We are not adding hundreds of new city pages while city figures are still a single cost index applied to a national range. Until a reviewer is named, pages cite sources instead of a person.
